About Course

PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
This unit standard will enable the learner to describe the requirements applicable to a permit to work in terms of hot work; cold work; confined space entry and lockout systems in a work area.

Persons accredited with this unit standard will be able to:
Describe the requirements for hot and cold work permits.
Describe the requirements to apply a lock-out system.
Describe the requirements to apply a confined space entry permit.

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
Communication at NQF Level 3.
Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3.
Unit standard: Provide risk-based primary emergency care/first aid in the workplace: SAQA ID – 120496.
Unit standard: Respond to, implement and manage emergencies according to an emergency action plan in a workplace: SAQA ID – 120329.
Unit standard: Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to fires in working places: SAQA ID – 120331.
